We have now resumed inspections in line with Government advice. Our surveyors are able to carry out property visits although risk assessments are being carried out on a case by case basis and there are a number of actions we are asking home occupiers to take in order to make surveys as safe as possible. Our surveyors are also using the appropriate PPE.
There are some instances where desktop valuations are still permissible and therefore if a home occupier is self-isolating due to being in a vulnerable group, please talk to us or your lender to determine if we can carry out a desktop valuation in lieu of a site visit.
The Market
These are unprecedented times. We are being asked for our opinion on value as well as what is going to happen to the market. Methods of valuation take into account what has happened in the past, not what is predicted to happen in the future. At the moment, turnover of property in the UK is minimal and uncertainty remains. Whilst we are close to the market, we cannot predict the future. What we can say though is that property is usually a long term investment and therefore any investment in property needs to be considered as such. We hope that the current pandemic is short lived.
